DoomsdayDVD caught up with Walter Ruether, who is promoting his newest horror film, Scarlet Fry's Junkfood Horrorfest.
What films were your influences in film making?
I used to want to be a rock star - I invented the name "Scarlet Fry," so I could be the next Alice Cooper. When the music thing didn't work out, I decided to get into film. I loved those old Herschell Gordon Lewis movies, the tongue-in-cheek gore of the Troma films like The Toxic Avenger, which really inspired me! I decided to make anthologies and Scarlet Fry would be the host!
How long did it take to script, shoot and edit the film?
It took about a year and a half. Sometimes we'd shoot something and me and my partner Brian Crow would discuss it. If it wasn't good enough, we'd shoot it again until we got it right!
What size crew did you have working on the film?
We had four cameramen, a script supervisor, a dozen production assistants, a crew of make- up artists including myself and about three other people, not to mention the sound grips, editor, art directors and more! We had a fairly large crew!

Was shooting this movie different from anything you've shot before?
More difficult. It was a little more challenging than anything I've shot before. This was the first time I was professional and took what I was doing very seriously. Before, my films were a little amateur, this one is not! This is the real deal!
Has a distributor been selected? When is the film expected to be released?
We have several distributors interested who have yet to view the screener, so nothing has been set in stone. We hope to release the DVD later this year. We are holding a sneak premiere on October 13th at Alice Cooper's restuaraunt in Phoenix called Alice Cooperstown!
Will there be a theatrical run?
That's something we're working on - anything's possible!

Any special guest appearances we should look for?
Alice Cooper's daughter, Calico Cooper!
What is next for you?
I think I'd like to get away from the tongue-in-cheek gore and do something a little more scary next time, something that will make horror history! Don't get me wrong, Junkfood Horrorfest will turn your stomach and send you crying.....
