Cine Art Filmes/Van Blad
110 Minutes. 1980. 2.35:1. Color.

Directed by Mike Hodges

Starring Sam J. Jones, Ornella Muti, Timothy Daldton and Max Von Sydow

Oddball space adventure films have flourished over the years, and the classic comic book/film serial character was no exception. In 1980, after the Star Wars phenomenon proved itself to be successful, Flash Gordon was released.

Ming, the ruler of Mongo, decides to take over Earth. Doctor Zarkov tricks Flash Gordon and Dale Arden into setting out into space in order to thwart Ming's attack. Once on Mongo, they're taken prisoner, and Flash is executed. With Flash ready to be buried, Ming has Dale prepared to become his bride and Zarkov is forced to become an agent of his kingdom. Flash is brought back to life by Ming's daughter, Princess Aura, and is brought to Arboria, the forest world. Through a series of trials and battles, Flash convinces the Arborians and the Hawk Men to join forces and fight Ming. With very little time left to save the Earth Flash heads into battle as Ming and Dale are about to be wed.....

Cine Art/Van Blad presents Flash Gordon 2.35:1 without anamorphic enhancement. The image is colorful, but with some grain and blemishes. The 2.0 English language stereo track is clear and about a good as a track for this film is going to be. The Portuguese track is clear, but the dubbing is terrible. There are no extras on this disc.

With the special editions of this disc now available in region one and region two, this disc can be easily skipped.
